AnejoTequila

When done well, what results is a luxuriously complex sipping Tequila that doesn’t stray too far into American whiskey territory. Tapatio Añejo’s lack of dilution produces a spirit of great purity and balance, while Arette Añejo retains its peppery kick while reinforcing it with real texture and mouthfeel.

At the luxury end, Don Julio’s 1942 releases are much sought-after for their opulent mix of power and sumptuous flavours, and there’s innovation too: Patrón Gran Burdeos is matured in a combination of French and American oak before moving into casks previously used to mature one of Bordeaux’s greatest wines; and Ocho Añejo Single Barrel is – very unusually for Tequila – bottled at cask strength.
